This reminds me of it big time, From the opening trailer to the auction, muslce cars and tuning, The only thing really missing is the online racing aspect. I really see this game slowly moving in that direction which is awesome.I always felt motorcity online was ahead of its time, 2002 wasnt ready for a game like that, That average household, myself included just didnt have the hardware or the internet speed to truly enjoy what motor city online was offering.

I will more than likely still buy 18 once it is out and I have the money for it. Yeah, with the system I had back then (a system I was told that would never be obsolete!
LOL!!) I would've never been able to handle 'Motor City Online' I'd like to see a newer version of that game. Haha, yea i definitely crash every time im on the race track. If they worked that out and made it a thing on here and adopted some of MCO stuff this game would be amazing, not that it already isnt amazing in its own right. This driving structure is closer to street rod if anything. They already have the speed track for drag racing already set up.with 2 lanes would just have to make it multi player for pink slips or cash.i just played street rod for the first time in 20 yrs and i played it for like a week straight. Essentially everything is here. All they would have to do is make it a multi player game. The online store is here. The tracks are here. I would totally be down if they just made the few necessary tweeks.
They'd need major improvements on the driving physics. CMS isn't close to being ready for driving, unless by driving you mean smoking the tires and spinning 180's on the track.Until there is a variable speed throttle instead of full brake / full speed and maybe even manual shifting control. Yeah racing wouldn't work out too great. However, I manage the tracks ok with the right setup on the car. Mainly throwing on racing tires first of all and adjusting the gearing 2nd. Also have to turn down steering sensitivity.Street Legal Racing: Redline is a much closer comparison to Motor City Online but, working on the cars in the shop sucks compared to CMS2018. I'm hoping either CMS20XX will come out with a racing mode addition or the Dev working on the newest iteration of Street Legal Racing will do a way better job on their mechanic shop side of things.
Hell, I'll buy both games.

Initially the game was to be called Need for Speed: Motor City. It is now considered a Need for Speed spin-off and is based on the old Need for Speed game engine. The point of the game was to buy classic American cars (mostly muscle cars) ranging from the 1930s to the 1970s, tune them up, and race them against other players. While Motor City Online was dead, a fan developed Motor City Offline, a version of the game designed for play offline. It contains 34 converted car models from the original game.
Motor City Offline was built using a modified version of the Need for Speed: High Stakes engine. The game lagged and the number of subscribers dropped to below 36,000. During times of high latency, cars acted unpredictably due to lag.
